The teens have created the name “C.L.E.A.R Devotions” for the youth group to better reflect the direction of our mission. 1 Timothy 4:12 “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.”
Where we meet and what we learn: We meet at Crossroad Community Church. Wednesdays 6:30pm-8pm. Sunday: 9:30am-10:15am
The middle school youth group at Crossroad Community Church consists of students in 7th & 8th grade from our surrounding community. They are a dedicated group of students who are not afraid to get involved in their community. The middle school youth group has helped out with serving dinner at the local Salvation Army and during the church sponsored community dinners at Thanksgiving and Christmas. In the summertime, they are also involved with helping out during Vacation Bible School. During the year, they may attend local Christian concerts and participate in joint youth group activities with other churches in our area. As a youth growing up, we were rarely asked about our thoughts or opinions. In most cases, we were told exactly what was to be known or understood about a topic or situation by someone else. This is a form of “spoon feeding” which curbs independent thinking. It is essential to teaching when questions are asked. We firmly believe this when discussing the meaning of God’s word in scripture. The students are asked various questions to help us determine how much they know or understand the Bible. What a joy it is to learn that God’s word is actually being retained by the youth and helps them in their Christian walk. We firmly believe the following scripture sums it all up when providing guidance for our youth. “Set an example of good works yourself, with integrity and dignity in your teaching. Your message is to be sound beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be ashamed, having nothing bad to say about us.” Titus 2:7-8 (Holman Christian Standard Bible) Middle School Youth Leaders...Tim and Melissa Drake |
