Our Beliefs

We Believe:

There is but one living and true God. He is spirit, holy, just, loving, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. We believe that in the unity of the Godhead, there are three Persons of one essence—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

We believe Jesus is the Messiah, born of a virgin, sent to redeem and restore the lost creation. He is both the Son of God and God the Son. We believe that He lived a perfect life, offered a perfect sacrifice on the cross, and shed His blood so that our sins can be completely forgiven. We believe in the bodily resurrection of Christ from the dead which guarantees the bodily resurrection of all believers.

He was active in creation, and he convicts of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He is the agent of the New Birth and bears witness to the truth of the gospel in preaching and testimony. The Holy Spirit seals, guides, adopts, and gives witness of assurance, while helping, teaching, and sanctifying the believer.

It is an infallible guide for life and in all matters. It is God’s special revelation to humanity, the true center of Christian unity, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creed, and opinion shall be tried.

We believe salvation is divinely initiated and wholly of grace through the person and work of Jesus Christ. He lived a perfect life, made atonement for the sins of his people by dying on the cross and becoming the substitutionary sacrifice, being raised from the dead and now enthroned in heaven. As a response, in order to be saved, sinners must be born again by the Holy Spirit through repentance and faith.

However, this liberty should not become a stumbling block to the weak but must be governed by love for one another. We also believe in the “universal” church, made up of all who are united in faith. The church is seen in the outworking of many localized bodies, each governed by a group of elders. They gather for the purpose of worshipping God which includes the sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost. The saved are raised to eternal conscious bliss in heaven and the lost are raised to eternal torment in hell.
